The Laboratory of Solar Energetics and Building Physics (LESBAT) was established in the early 80’s within the framework of strengthening the teaching of energy technologies in the School of Business and Engineering Vaud (HEIG-VD). It aims to contribute to the reduction of primary energy consumption and environmental impact of buildings.

To accomplish this, LESBAT has gathered considerable expertise in the following domains:

• Exergetic optimization of buildings to reduce primary energy consumption
• Promotion of renewable energies, in particular, solar thermal (heating and cooling)
• Reduction of the environmental impact of energy and materials used in buildings

The LESBAT team concentrates all its “renewable energy” in the following activities:

• Education/training of future engineers in promising and innovative areas
• Scheduling of ongoing training activities for professionals
• Development of modeling tools for professionals
• Providing expertise in audits and mandates
• Design of innovative systems within the framework of its research activities
